Indigenous Sport Program
The
Office for Recreation and Sport (ORS) manages the Indigenous Sport Program (ISP) on behalf of the Australian Sports Commission and the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA). Indigenous Sport Development Officers (ISDO) assist the development of sporting and accreditation programs in their respective regional areas. They are based at the following locations throughout South Australia:
Based in the Adelaide office the ISDO is responsible for the Southern region of the State which includes the Adelaide Metropolitan area, Yorke Peninsula, Riverland, Murraylands, South East, Kangaroo Island and the Fleurieu Peninsula. For further information please call 08 7424 7607.
Based in Port Augusta the ISDO is responsible for the Northern Region of the State which includes Port Augusta, Whyalla, Port Pirie, Woomera, Marree, Nepabunna, Coober Pedy, Oodnadatta and the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatara (APY) Lands. For further information please call 08 8641 3222.
Based in Port Lincoln the ISDO is responsible

Statewide Events
Alan Dodd Memorial Team Golf Championships
The Alan Dodd Memorial Team Golf Championships is a teams golf championships held annually. Pre-qualifying tournaments are held in each of the three Indigenous Sport Program regions with the top twelve players from each region advancing to the Alan Dodd Memorial Team Golf Championships. Thirty-six players compete in the Championships each year, usually held in Port Augusta.
The 2009 Alan Dodd Memorial Golf Cup with be held on 3 July, in Port Augusta.
Accreditations for June
Level 1 Sports Medicine Course
29 - 30 June
Port Augusta
Invitations are extended to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to attend the Level 1 Sports Medicine Course being held in Port Augusta. The ORS will cover course, meal and travel expenses for participants to attend.
Please contact the Senior Project Officer, Indigenous Sport Program if you wish to be an accredited coach, umpire or official in any sport recognised by the Australian Sports Commission.

Club Fee Subsidy Program
Aim of the Program
The Club Fee Subsidy is designed to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander athletes to access ongoing sport and active recreation participation opportunities as a participant at a local level.
Who Is Eligible?
- South Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander athletes
Who Is Ineligible?
- Individuals representing South Australia in their chosen sport – refer to Australian Sports Commission’s Elite Indigenous Travel and Accommodation Assistance Program – phone: (02) 6214 1210
- Athletes receiving funding from the Australian Sports Commission
- Coaches and officials
- SAPSASA School Sport participants
What Can I Apply for?
Financial assistance of up to 50% of the total costs required to a maximum of $300 towards your sporting club’s registration fees.

Applications have now closed and will reopen in the 2009/2010 financial year.
