GP1 Regatta Results

SASI Canoe Sprint athletes have kicked the 2008/09 National GP Regatta Series off on a good note.  Conditions at West Lakes last weekend were less than perfect with rain, strong winds and extremely choppy conditions but all athletes handled the conditions well and produced some outstanding performances.  This regatta also doubled as selection for the National U19 team to represent Australia at the 2009 Australian Youth Olympic Festival (AYOF) to take place in Sydney in January - 18 athletes were selected from across Australia with 8 being selected from SASI – Glenn Rypp, Luke Haniford, Laurence Fletcher, Jeremy Petho, Tom Boerema, Adrian Laub, Fiona Kidd and Kate Ferguson these selections are a credit to the athletes and the professional coaching and leadership provided by SASI scholarship coach Kate Barclay.
