Bronze Medal for SASI Athlete in Germany

SASI athlete Hayley Taeuber picked up Australia's second bronze medal in the World Junior Diving Championships in Aachen, Germany. After qualifying in 5th in the preliminary rounds, Hayley needed her best performance to break into the top 3 in the final. Sitting in 4th place going into the last round of dives, she had to hit her last dive, a reverse 1 1/2 somersaults with 1 1/2 twists. The high difficulty dive is perhaps her best optional and she delivered when it counted. Her final score of 407 was just 3 points off of second place. "The key for Hayley was to tune out what her competitors were doing. She was in a similar position in the Junior Nationals with an opportunity to win with a good last dive, but she got distracted with the scores. It is nice to know a lesson was learned from that,” said coach Yang Zhuliang.  Hayley finished 6th in the 3 metre competition, diving very well but coming up short on difficulty.
