The SASI Netball Program aims to provide
support, resources and a clear development pathway for
athletes to progress to an elite level and National
Team representation. The Program provides quality international
standard coaching and management, sports science (including
strength and conditioning), video analysis, sports psychology,
sports medicine services and access to range of facilities.
The SASI Netball program provides Associate Scholarships for players who have been identified for development in the 14-17 age group. The 2008 recipients will be notified in February.
The program was restructured 3 years ago. The age of
the scholarship holders was raised and the program now
participates in the State League competition, the premier
netball competition in the state. The girls are selected
from all netball competitions in the state, including
teams already participating in the state league. The program also supports,
to a lesser extent, the SA Sparrows - players aged 14
- 16 years, who play in a more senior summer competition.
This team previously played as a SASI squad, but it
now administered by the SA Netball Association (SANA)
as an underpinning program.
The SASI Netball Program is a partnership program funded and supported by the South Australian government through SASI in partnership with both National and State Sporting Organisation. A key partner in the program is Netball Australia who contributes funding support to the program as part of its National High Performance Plan. The NTC endorsement of the program recognises the status of the program in the sports National High Performance Pathway and also the indirect funding contribution to the SASI program by the Australian Sports Commission through Netball Australia.
