Sport Science - Physiology

The SASI Physiology Department is responsible for accurately identifying and quantifying the physical and physiological characteristics that contribute to performance in select sports. Subsequently, in conjunction with coach and athlete, the most effective methods of manipulating these characteristics to enhance overall performance and success are identified and applied. This work takes place in the competition, training and laboratory environments.

The SASI Physiology Laboratory is an accredited (Australian Sports Commission - LSAS Accreditation) high performance testing venue in the core areas of:

  • Anthropometry
  • Field-testing
  • Oxygen consumption
  • Ergometry
  • Blood analysis

A commitment to applied research is a high priority within our department.
