What is a SASI Squad Scholarship?
A SASI Squad Scholarship provides athletes from selected sports
access to financial assistance, services and resources to
implement a comprehensive training program. A full time high
performance coach is appointed to design and implement the
training program. Funds are allocated for training, competition,
equipment and other approved expenses.

Currently there are 15 SASI sport programs.

How were these sports selected?
Criteria for the selection of SASI sports
include:
- Profile of the sport-International, national
and South Australian profile; Olympic Games and Commonwealth
Games status.
- Structure of the sport-Financial, organisation
and administration, competition, membership.
- Athlete performance-Availability of talent
identification and development through State Sporting Association;
performance history and likelihood of international success.
- National support-Role of SASI program within
national structure; financial contribution.
How do you apply for a SASI Squad Scholarship?
Each coach and sport has an established
selection process for athletes wishing to join SASI squads.
To be eligible however, athletes must be:
- a registered member of the appropriate State
Sporting Association that is affiliated with a recognised
National Sporting Organisation.
- recognised as having reached or having the
ability to reach the high performance level in the chosen
sport.
