| Officials - National
Officiating Accreditation Scheme (NOAS)
The NOAS develops and implements programs that
improve the quality, quantity, leadership and status of sports
officiating in Australia.
NOAS training programs include the following
components:
- General principles – fundamentals of
officiating and event management
- Sport-specific – technical rules,
interpretations, reporting and sport-specific roles for
officials
- Officiating practice – practical officiating
and application of officiating principles
NOAS courses enable officials to acquire greater
knowledge of officiating skills and techniques. The NOAS course
equips the official with appropriate officiating methods and
the confidence to officiate within their chosen sport.
ASC approved sports may deliver the three components
as an integrated course or as a segregated course where the
General Principles section is conducted by an approved agency.
The General Principles component of the Officiating
Course is divided into five two-hour modules. To gain accreditation
participants must complete the modules, and then complete
the sport specific component through their sporting association.
The General Principles course consists of the
following modules:
Module 1 Legal Responsibilities and Risk Management
for Sports Officials
This module will assist officials to make informed decisions
on legal responsibilities and related safety issues, and to
